Dominic Frasca

Dominic Frasca got his hiking start playing in New Hapshire's White Mountains in 2000, and continued to do so until he moved to Maryland in 2007. A prolonged winter's hiking hiatus left him wandering forlornly around an REI, until he discovered the area's hiking meetups (where he learned about the variety of parks and trails in MD and VA), and eventually the Maryland Outdoor Club. He has been leading group hikes since mid-2007, and an active MOC member (and hike leader) since early 2011. He's also an avid cyclist, and always on the lookout for new rides. He's runnning for Event Coordinator to help grow the club, and to explore and encourage the psoting of new outings.

Amy Pickwick

Amy has been regularly involved in the outdoors for most of her life, including many hikes, a few canoe and rafting excursions, horseback riding adventures, and travel to new and exciting cities and national parks. After moving to Atlanta, GA in 1998, Amy grew quite used to the various outdoor activities that you could do in the Southeast, but was having trouble finding people with similar interests to participate on outings with her. In 2000, Amy founded the successful Atlanta Outdoor Club (3,600 active members; 10,000 total members over the lifespan of the Club). After going through an unplanned change in jobs, Amy relocated back to Maryland, where she had lived previous to moving to Georgia. Soon after, she founded the Maryland Outdoor Club in 2002.

In 1998, Amy completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Salisbury University, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and a Studio Art minor. Her creativeness combined with her enthusiastic and reachable goals, help build a strong foundation for a successful club. Her main goal for the club involves creating a fun, inviting, but low-cost organization for those in or around Maryland with similar interests in the outdoors, socializing and traveling. She attempts to make most events things that the person with the least common experience can easily participate in, but allowing experts to be challenged.

Co-Founder
Mark Zawodny

Mark grew up with the big-city life of Baltimore, MD, where he got his first taste of adventure sports in his days as a Boy Scout. For many of his grammar-school years, he was also regularly involved in a local soccer league where he ended up becoming an assistant coach, before heading off to study at the University of Maryland. Mark was a member of the track team at his high school, as well.

Mark spent three solid months of his spare time in 2002, while completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), building the first MOC web site, some of which code is still in use on the site today. He also helped set up the business aspect of the club, until his departure from his role in early 2004. Today, he runs a web site hosting and consulting business in Baltimore, where he lives again with his wife and young son.

Former President
Event Organizer

Colin Babb

Colin moved to Maryland in 1998 (so he's almost a native). He is completing his doctorate in American history at the University of Maryland, and he currently serves as the command historian at the Office of Naval Research. Naturally, Colin tends to organize events for people to experience the outdoors with an eye on the past.

Event Organizer
Gail Davidson

Gail has loved the outdoors her entire life.  She started camping with Girl Scouts as a kid and from that started learning all the wonderful things the natural world has to offer.  The outdoors is her escape from her day-to-day life where she sits in an office all day (YUK).  She particularly loves to kayak, but also enjoys hiking, camping and biking.

Event Organizer
Jen A

Late to the world of outdoor adventure, Jennifer joined MOC in March 2005. Her first camping trip was in 2004 where she was instantly bitten by the bug (strangely, both literally and figuratively). Over the years, she's become an avid hiker and backpacker, and will pretty much take any excuse to get outside and explore new hiking grounds. In addition to MOC, she is an active member in the DC UL Backpacking group, and completed a thru-hike of the ~280 mile Kungsleden Trail in Sweden over 16 days in June 2013. Jen looks to organize easy hikes that challenge people to take the next level in their outdoor experiences.
